The birth & finding of MOSES.
The birth & finding of Moses is a common theme in religious art. It is a scene full of drama and emotion, a tyrannical decree, a grieving mother, a child left to God; afloat on the river and the unlikely providence of God as a Hebrew boy is left in the hands of his oppressor’s daughter. The scene is also notable in Christian imagry for its parallels and foreshadowing of the birth of Christ. it is here at the beginning of Moses’ story that the similarities to Christ begin. The Torah promises in Deuteronomy 18:15 that “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me (Moses) from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.” through this lens much of Moses's story is interpreted and expressed.
